The Creative Process: Using Blogs and Losing Original Work
As part of my creative process, I’ve used and tried out various blog platforms to collect thoughts, drafts, and early-stage ideas, to eventually be able to show a portfolio of my final work. The blog is used to organize research, and create that final piece of work. I tried changing platforms as a practical decision or for a cleaner interface, better tools, or simply trying something new.
Over time, the blog site 'Webador' became an archive of my creative development. It held notes, outlines, and reflections that were key to my overall portfolio. However, using multiple platforms came with downsides, particularly in terms of consistency and file management.
At one point, I lost access to one of my original blogs due to a platform shutdown and lack of backups. That loss included early versions of ideas and unfinished writing that I hadn’t saved elsewhere. It was a clear reminder of the risks involved in relying on external tools without maintaining my own archive.
Since then, I’ve adjusted my workflow to include more regular backups and offline documentation. While losing the original material was inconvenient, the experience helped streamline my creative process and made me more intentional about how and where I store in-progress work.
The creative process came with it's challenges in many ways.
